FAQ
Questions we hear every week
Short, honest answers. If yours is not here, just ask us.
Solar panels
Is my roof suitable for solar panels?
Most roofs facing south, east or west are suitable, and flat roofs work very well too. Shade, roof condition and available surface matter more than the exact orientation. We check all of this during a free site visit.
How many panels do I need?
That depends on your yearly consumption, your plans (an electric car, a heat pump) and your roof. As a rule of thumb, one modern panel produces roughly 380–420 kWh per year in Belgium. We size the installation on your actual consumption.
Do I need a permit?
In most cases panels on a residential roof do not need a planning permit, but exceptions exist (listed buildings, some municipalities). We check local rules and handle the grid registration for you.
Home batteries
Is a home battery worth it?
It depends on how much solar energy you export today and on your peak consumption. Since the end of the reversing meter, storing your own energy has become more interesting, but it is not automatic. We calculate the payback honestly and advise against it when it does not make sense.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. With a hybrid inverter your installation is battery-ready from the start, and modular batteries can be expanded later.
Does a battery keep my lights on during a power cut?
Only if the system is designed for back-up. Many installations can power selected essential circuits during an outage; we tell you what is possible with your setup.
EV chargers
1-phase or 3-phase charging?
It depends on your grid connection and your car. Many homes in Belgium have a 3×230 V connection without neutral, which limits options; we check your connection and recommend the most sensible power.
Can I charge my car on solar power?
Yes. A smart charger can follow your solar surplus and combine it with grid power when you need the car to be ready at a certain time.
Practical
Which regions do you work in?
We are based in Zaventem and work in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia.
How long does an installation take?
A typical residential solar installation takes one to two days on site. A battery or charger can often be installed in a day.
Is the electrical inspection included?
Yes. Every installation is inspected by an accredited body according to the Belgian electrical code (AREI/RGIE) before it is put into service.
Do you also install heat pumps?
We are RESCERT certified for heat pumps (certificate 4509). Ask us about your project and we will tell you whether we can help.
